Last week, qeenew exhibited at Formex in Stockholm with our very own booth for the first time. It was actually the third Formex in a row where qeenew was represented, but this time felt a little extra special. We created a fully peach pink space, located right next to the Sustainability Stand. A perfect spot for qeenew and everything the brand stands for. The days were filled with conversations, new connections and meetings with both retailers and other people within the design industry. It was inspiring to introduce more people to the world of qeenew and to show how discarded home textiles can be transformed into new, unique garments and accessories. After months of planning, sewing and preparing, seeing the whole booth come together was such a great feeling. As a small independent fashion brand, qeenew is constantly adapting to changes within the industry, including new regulations for businesses selling across European borders. From August 2026, new EU packaging regulations introduce additional requirements for businesses shipping products directly to consumers in other EU countries. For a small-scale brand like qeenew, where every garment is made individually from rescued textiles, the administration involved can be significant even when only a small number of orders are shipped to a country. For this reason, qeenew.com is currently only accepting orders with delivery addresses in Sweden while we review the best way to offer international shipping in the future. This does not mean that qeenew is stepping away from Europe. Quite the opposite. We hope to continue growing internationally through selected retailers, collaborations and other sales channels. There are moments in this journey that feel almost surreal, and this is definitely one of them. Opening the latest issue of Stickat & Sånt and finding a feature about qeenew and my work was a feeling I won't forget. Seeing something you've built from an idea, a sewing machine, and a passion for giving discarded textiles a second life printed across magazine pages is incredibly rewarding. The article shares the story behind qeenew – how forgotten curtains, tablecloths and bed linens are transformed into one-of-a-kind garments and accessories, and why I believe the material should always lead the design process. qeenew is a Swedish design studio creating one of a kind garments from reclaimed textiles. Each piece is designed and sewn as a finished work — produced in a single edition and never repeated. When a garment is sold, it is gone. The starting point of every design is the material itself. Discarded curtains, sheets, tablecloths, and other textiles are carefully selected, washed, and reworked into new garments. Rather than following trends or seasons, the existing fabric defines the form, proportions, and final expression. This material-led process results in pieces that carry both history and intention. qeenew focuses primarily on finished, ready to ship garments, allowing each design to remain intuitive, slow, and craft driven. A small selection of styles is also available as Ready to Make — created on order using reclaimed textiles and sewn specifically for the customer. The award highlights companies and designers who place sustainability at the heart of both concept and execution and to receive this recognition means more than words can describe. Formex is one of the Nordic region’s leading trade fairs for design, interiors, and fashion, and each year the Sustainability Award celebrates initiatives that show a responsible, long-term approach to materials, production, and design.
